Season Launch

We will be holding an information session on Sunday the 11th of February from 2- 3:30 pm. This is an important meeting for all current and intending players families and supporters to attend, and will be an opportunity to meet our board members and coaches. There will also be a brief presentation from our President who will outline the club’s plans and challenges moving forward and also provide some information around our competition structures – in particular the launch of our Youth Academy, and the related Tasmanian Youth Champions League, that will give our players the chance to test themselves against other clubs across the state. We look forward to your attendance.

Australia Day Awards

A very big congratulations to Adam Jago and Marcus Smith on being named joint winners of the Young Citizen of the Year at the 2018 Devonport Australia Day Awards. These fine young men have not only proven to be terrific citizens of Devonport, but great ambassadors of our club for a number of years. The following excerpt is from the Devonport City Council website…..

Marcus Smith and Adam Jago began their charitable events in 2016 with the first Hitting Heart Disease for 6 campaign, raising funds and awareness for heart disease via a charity cricket match they organised after the passing of a close friend.

In 2017 they followed this up with a charity golf day at the Devonport Golf Club, with funds raised going towards the Heart Kids Charity as well as a sporting scholarship for young local sportspeople.

For these young men to organise large charity events shows a maturity beyond their years and demonstrates their commitment to friends and family.

At the same awards ceremony, the 2017 National SAP Festival that we proudly host was recognised by being a nominee in the Community Event of the Year section. This award was deservedly presented to the Great Teddy Bear Fly in and Kite Festival, which is a wonderful community event that raises money for medical research.

Enrolments are now open for our popular SAP Program, which will commence on Tuesday 13th of February. This program caters for boys and girls in grades 3-6.

Training will continue to be Tuesday and Thursday afternoon’s, between 4:00pm -5:15pm at our Valley Road grounds.

The link to the enrolment form is available via the SAP Program tab on our website. Additional information, such as training term dates are also available on the website.

National SAP Festival

Later this month, we look forward to hosting the 2018 National SAP Festival. The Festival runs from Friday 23rd till Sunday 25th, and will involve Under 12 teams from various mainland locations, as well as teams from throughout Tasmania. As always with this event, we will require volunteers to assist in the canteen & on the BBQ, so if you can help out, please let us know as we’d love to see you there!

New Scoreboard & Dugouts

Some may have noticed that the dugouts & scoreboard on the main ground were removed prior to Christmas. This was so that new dugouts could be built & a new electronic scoreboard put in place. The new scoreboard was installed on Friday & will be ready to go in the coming weeks, with the dugout construction to commence shortly. Our thanks goes to the Devonport City Council for their support with this project.

Club Membership

Club memberships are now available & have seen strong interest. If you wish to enquire about a membership, please see one of the club directors at this Sunday’s launch day, or email
