Away versus Launceston United – June 4, 2011

This week saw the Devonport under 18′s come up against Launceston United. The Strikers had a slow start with the boys looking like they didn’t know how to play as a team for the first ten minutes. After some words from the sideline and a quick burst of energy from the midfield we started to look like a team. Adam Gorrie in the midfield and Matt Smith in the backline dominated the two positions but if it wasn’t for the rest of the defence we could have been more than one nil down at the half.

The second half looked promising and the boys came out fighting hard. After a long first half of shots only just missing the forward line stepped it up and a few decent strikes went in the right direction, but were unfortunately saved by the keeper. A lack of concentration between Seaton Pendlebury and Smith conceded us another goal and a fluke of a shot saw us go to three nil at the end. All round a good effort from the lads we just need to switch on early and talk a lot more.
