DEVONPORT STRIKERS V’s PROSPECT KNIGHTS

The Under 18 boys had a very convincing start to the match against Prospect Knights on the back pitch at Valley Road.

Devonport started off strongly putting a lot of pressure on Prospects defence which lead Ben Andrews to score the first goal of the match. Keenan Douce scored the second goal when he managed to slip the ball past the Knights keeper after forcing him to make an error and drop the ball.

Prospect struggled to get past the dominant Devonport defence as the Strikers kept the pressure on the visitors at the other end of the park. They managed to break through the Knights defence again allowing Douce to score his second goal to give the Strikers a 3 – nil lead at the interval.

Devonport started slowly after half time & gifted the Knights a goal. After 20 minutes of the second half, the Strikers regained the ascendancy & started to match their first half performance. Henry Payton scored the Strikers fourth & final goal of the game when he struck a free kick beyond the Knights keeper to make the final score an impressive 4 – 1.
