Home versus Burnie United – April 30 2011
DEVONPORT STRIKERS V’s BURNIE UNITED
Reserves match report
Saturday April 30, 2011
Fresh from an Easter weekend break, Devonport’s Reserves continued
on their quest for a 3rd consecutive title with their first away match of
the season at Montello against Burnie.
The match was well contested, although the performance from
Devonport left little to be desired. The first half ended 0-0 with the boys
missing a host of golden chances to go ahead.
The half time words of Coach Peter Best proved to do the trick as
Devonport struck the lead in the opening minutes of the 2nd half thanks
to a solid run and finish from Kurt Howard.
Burnie managed to pull the scores level after scoring from a corner.
From that point forward Devonport did well to control the play and score
the winner through an inventive strike from Caz Douglas.
The score finished at 2-1 leaving Devonport undefeated from their
opening five matches. The Strikers will look to improve this streak next
week when they face Ulverstone at the Showground’s.
